second month

March 7, 2012

February had it’s ups and downs, but I survived and had fun doing it!

It started with a birthday party of one of my college teammates, which he celebrated at Sneaky Pete’s and Envy. That party was a blast. I got a taste of what the night life here in MN is.

Then I got to watch the American Idiot Broadway Show. It amazed me that the writer was able to use all Green Day songs, connect them and create a story. I loved the very talented cast, specially when 21 Guns and Wake Me Up When September Ends were sung.

I was also able to watch part of the AMA Arenacross Series. The last leg of the 2011-2012 season was held at Target Center, and I got to experience the sights, sounds, and smell of motorcross racing. It was fun to watch pro racers battle it out on the arena!

Aside from those, I started playing badminton again. I think the last time I held a racket prior to this was almost a year ago. The first night I played I felt out of place, but I got the hang of it again…and playing became a weekly thing. We play 3 hours on Wednesdays at Apple Valley Community Center.

Finally, I got to visit San Francisco! It was exciting to see my brothers again after so many years!!! They both toured me around Sanfo and I had fun spending time with them. I missed them so much that we talked about a lot of stuff…and it’s like we just saw each other yesterday! I even got to meet with their friends. It was also nice to visit with my cousins, nieces and nephews. We actually had a mini-reunion! LOL!

On the other hand..my mom told me that my daughter has started having tantrums lately…and it makes me sad because I know she does that because she misses me a lot. And I miss her a lot! I really wish we could be together right now. *sighs* I’m just thinking…2 months down. I’ll see you soon, Gaby! Love you! =)

a month so far

February 2, 2012

i know, i know…it’s been 48 years since my last post! ok, that’s an exaggeration. haha!

i had a great ending for 2011..the very last day, i flew to the US for an on-site assignment. yes, i’m in MN. :) and so far, i have:

1. attended 2 parties — new year’s eve (the day i arrived) and a going-away party
2. learned how to comfortably drive on the freeway and on snow-covered streets
3. been visited by college friends from New Jersey, North Dakota and Toronto
4. learned how to ski

i am having fun here, thanks to my housemates and friends. :)

of course, i am missing my baby a lot already. most times, i wish that she was with me during my adventures. we try to talk at least thrice a week via skype, but i miss hugging, kissing, and smelling her even if she did not take a bath. lol! homesickness has been very hard to deal with, but i’m surviving. i just keep on hoping that it’ll get better soon, while keeping in mind that i won’t be away for much longer. :D

anyway, i am looking forward to my upcoming trip to SFO. i just booked a flight and i’m really really excited to see my brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews — hopefully some friends too! :)

the famous garden

February 10, 2009

Last March 2008, I went to Tagaytay with my college friends. One of our stops was Sonya’s Garden, where we had the famous set menu of salad, pasta and salmon with capers for lunch. Check out their website for more info.

Anyway, here are some pictures I took from the restaurant (the interesting chandeliers) and from the garden around it:

corregidor

February 9, 2009

I went to Corregidor last December 2007 for my previous company’s yearly Christmas celebration and team building. It was nice seeing Corregidor for the first time, with all the history attached to the place. We had a day tour of the island, night tour of the Malinta tunnel, and some team-building activities including some sort of an Amazing Race. It was a fun 2 days.

Anyway, I would just like to share some pictures I took when we were there:

singapore the 2nd

February 5, 2009

I have mentioned in my previous post that I went back to Singapore just after I learned that I was pregnant last September 2007. I know…that was more than a year ago. However, I still remember that trip, and I wanted to share some of the experiences that I had when I was there. :)

The first time I was there, I went to Clarke Quay and Sentosa. It was fun seeing everything for the first time…the Singapore River, the unique buildings, the G-Max reverse bungee (which I wanted to try that time but couldn’t because I was so full from dinner and coffee) and the river taxis in Clarke Quay, as well as the Images of Singapore, The Merlion & Merlion Walk, and the Musical Fountain featuring Kiki at Sentosa. On my second trip, I went back to both places and I had a different experience:

  • Clarke Quay was “brighter” because there was some festival celebrated.

  • Going to Sentosa, I was able to experience the Sentosa Express from Vivo City.

  • At Sentosa, I got to try the Luge and Sky Ride. As the Sentosa site states: “Part go-cart, part-toboggan, pure excitement – the luge is a fun-filled gravity ride that’s safe for all ages. With a unique steering and braking system that allows you to make the ride as leisurely or as exciting as you want.” Enough said. The Sky Ride was cool, because I was able to see Sentosa on a different perspective — from way up. :p
  • Since it’s just near the area, we went to Siloso Beach and just spent the rest of the day enjoying the sunshine and watching kids play on the sand.

It was a wonderful second time. Special thanks to the friend who provided for my trip: you helped me get through a difficult time. :)
